Consignment Terms & Policies
To ensure a smooth and transparent consignment process, please review the following key policies that apply to all property sold through Austin Auction Gallery. Full Terms & Conditions are available here.
Condition & Representation
All property is sold “as is, where is.” Our specialists make every effort to provide accurate descriptions and condition information, but catalog descriptions and estimates are statements of opinion only. We recommend consignors provide full details and any supporting documentation regarding authenticity or provenance.
Reserves & Estimates
Estimates are based on current and historic market data and serve only as a guide to potential selling price. Some items may be subject to a reserve, which is the confidential minimum price agreed upon between the consignor and Austin Auction Gallery.
Bidding & Sale
All bidding is conducted in U.S. dollars. Items may be sold in person, by phone, absentee, or online through approved platforms. The auctioneer retains full discretion to determine bidding increments and resolve disputes.
Payments & Buyer’s Premium
Buyers pay a premium in addition to the hammer price:
-
In-house bids: 22% buyer’s premium
-
Online bids (LiveAuctioneers/Invaluable): 27% buyer’s premium
Payments are due within five (5) days of the sale. Austin Auction accepts U.S. cash, approved credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express), checks from Texas residents, or wire transfers for invoices over $10,000.
Post-Sale Settlement
Consignors are paid within 30 business days after the auction, once payment has been received from the buyer. Settlement statements detail hammer prices, commissions, and deductions.
Unsold Property & Storage
Unsold items must be removed or reoffered within 10 calendar days after the sale. Items left beyond this period may incur a daily storage fee of $25 per lot and may eventually be resold or transferred at the consignor’s expense.
Shipping & Liability
Austin Auction Gallery does not provide packing or shipping services. All shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer, and any recommended shippers act solely as agents of the buyer. Consigned property is insured while in our possession.
Legal & Licensing
Austin Auction Gallery is licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), License #8069. All disputes are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, with venue in Travis County.
